Welcome to Our Kurdish Language Classes!
At the Nursi Foundation of Canada, we are dedicated to offering Kurdish language classes that help students connect with their cultural heritage and community. Whether you’re just starting to learn Kurdish or looking to deepen your skills, our classes provide a supportive environment for all learners. Our volunteer-based teaching model ensures that every student receives personalized attention to help them succeed on their language journey.
We offer two levels of Kurdish language classes: Beginner and Intermediate. Both levels focus on not only the language but also the cultural and historical context of the Kurdish people.
The Beginner Kurdish class is designed for those who are new to the Kurdish language or have minimal prior knowledge. In this class, we focus on the basics of the language:
Kurdish Alphabet: Students begin by learning the Kurdish letters and how to properly write and pronounce each character.
Basic Vocabulary: Building a foundation of essential words and phrases that are used in daily conversations and everyday situations.
Simple Sentence Formation: Students will start constructing basic sentences, helping them engage in simple conversations.
Pronunciation Practice: Emphasis is placed on correct pronunciation, with support from our volunteer teachers to ensure students gain confidence in speaking Kurdish.
Cultural Connection: Along with language skills, students are introduced to Kurdish culture and traditions, making learning more meaningful.
The Intermediate Kurdish class is for students who already have a basic understanding of Kurdish and want to improve their language proficiency. In this class, students will build on their foundational knowledge and focus on:
Advanced Vocabulary: Expanding vocabulary to cover a wider range of topics, including everyday life, family, and current events.
Sentence Structure: Students will practice forming more complex sentences, enhancing their ability to engage in deeper conversations.
Listening and Speaking: Through interactive exercises, students will strengthen their speaking and listening comprehension.
Reading and Writing: In addition to speaking, students will improve their reading and writing skills by practicing reading short texts and composing paragraphs in Kurdish.
Cultural Exploration: Learning about Kurdish literature, traditions, and cultural practices that enhance the language-learning experience.
Our Kurdish language classes are taught by passionate volunteer teachers who are dedicated to helping students succeed. With their guidance, you’ll receive personalized attention and support as you progress in your language skills. Whether you're a beginner or at an intermediate level, our volunteers are committed to creating a positive, welcoming environment for all students.
Throughout the year, we organize special events where students can showcase their language abilities and celebrate Kurdish culture, including:
Kurdish Song Performances: Students are encouraged to learn and perform Kurdish songs, allowing them to practice their language skills in a fun, interactive way.
Art and Drawings: Students are invited to share their creative work, such as drawings or art inspired by Kurdish culture, heritage, or their own learning experiences.
These events provide an opportunity for students to practice speaking and performing in a supportive, community-based setting.
